In these three texts, written from 1520 to 1522, Machiavelli tries to convince the Medici to reinstate the Grand Council, an emblematic institution of republican Florence from 1494 to 1512, even though they had abolished it upon their return in 1512. Behind this Machiavellian gamble, there is an ethical position that never abandoned the Florentine Secretary: non si abbandonare mai, never abandon, never renounce, because this is the only way to face the adverse "fortune " .
